Using a theory of change in systems change

NPC has published a paper setting out how they see theories of change contributing to planning and measuring the outcomes of systems change.

There are those that argue that theories of change have become too rigid and offer a safe place to hide when systems change is difficult and messy. NPC looks at what they see as five pitfalls of using theories of change in the ‘wrong’ way, and how these can be overcome.

For organisations involved in systems change, and those committed to making their organisations truly learning orientated, the paper is worth a read as a contribution to the debate.
