As part of our covid response we commissioned two pieces of research to support policy responses to the inevitable spike in youth unemployment:
A Better Future: Transforming jobs and skills for young people post-pandemic
by the Institute for Employment Studies and Institute for Public Policy Research, which studied likely post-pandemic growth industries, including the green economy, and provided recommendations on how to support young people to transition into them; and
Youth Employment 2030: Employment and prospects for young people in England post-Covid19
by ClearView Research, which surveyed and interviewed young people across England to understand the impact of the pandemic and the associated public health response on young people’s education and employment, and to ask those directly impacted what support they wanted to help them prosper.
